Match Preview: Vale vs Celtic Stars

In the first game of a double header at the Superbowl, our second team take on Celtic Stars from Clonegal in Division 3.

Vale will be looking to bounce back from their cup defeat to Bagenalstown in their last game before the Christmas break.  While Celtic Stars will also be looking to bounce back from a cup defeat before Christmas, when the Vale first team were victorious.

The two teams last met in September.  In that league game Celtic Stars were 3-1 winners.  Vale will be hoping to turn that result around this time out.

On the injury front, Jesse ‘ The Leighlin Butcher’ Clarke is expected to return to the squad after a lengthy layoff with a hamstring injury.  Clarke had this to say about his recovery:

I was really struggling with the hamstring, tried lots of physio and stretching none of which seemed to work.  i drank my face off over Christmas which seems to have worked.

Similarly Ronnie Devine is expected to make the squad after a Christmas of pints.  Devine, although never actually injured in his career, has been blighted by permanent soreness and is expected to again play through the pain.

Kick off in The Superbowl is at 11:00.
