Vale 5 – 1 Nurney

Nurney made the short trip to leighlin to take on neighbours vale in the cup.

Within a minute of arriving on the pitch they were trailing, after John Miley flicked a Ger Kieran long ball over David Murphy in the goal.
After 4 minutes Miley turned to supplier as he crossed for Styler Doyle to poke home.
Vale continued to press and added to their lead when John Miley finished another long ball from Ger Kieran on 12 minutes.
Styler Doyle got his second of the game on 40 minutes when he headed home.
Despite the deficit Nurney battled on and got a goal back from the penalty spot with the last kick of the half. That incident saw Vale reduced to ten men which gave Nurney hope of a dramatic come back.
In the second half, both teams created chances. Nurney struck the post twice from free kicks. While David Murphy made some excellent saves to keep Vale at bay.
However there was nothing the young keeper could do about Vale’s fifth as Styler Doyle picked up the ball and from distance rifled home for his hatrick after a delightful flick from Yonnie Johnson.
Vale saw out the game comfortably after that to advance to the next round.
