Despite a healthy return of goals in their league campaign, Vale have cursed their luck in front of goals recently, with missed chances dominating the post match discussion.  That would change today however as the Vale forward play returned 6 goals against a good Castle Rangers outfit.

Within two minutes Andy Brennan had Vale a goal up after John Miley cheekily let an Emmet Casey through ball on it’s way to Brennan.
On 13 minutes, Brennan again broke the Castle Rangers lines, this time he was hauled down by the defender.  John Miley stepped up and slotted home Vale’s second.
Despite the commanding position Vale were struggling to hold onto the ball and the Castle Rangers pressure told on 25 minutes when a midfielder danced through the Vale defence to slot home.
Against the run of play then retook a two goal lead when Ciaran Fitzpatrick struck home from close range after a corner bounced around the box.
Again Vale surrounded their lead.  This time Ciaran Fitzpatrick struck home from close range into his own net after a tricky ball hit the defender on the line.
2-3 at half time.
The second half saw Vale get more of foothold in position but it was Castle Rangers who scored the next goal to level it from a headed corner kick.
At 3-3 it was all to play for but then the Vale forwards clicked into gear.  Neat interplay between Andy Brennan and Andrew Townsend released Lee Conran who bravely finished past the on-rushing keeper.
Vale continued to press at this point and when the won a corner, Andre Townsend stepped and swung in straight into the goal.  At this point Castle Rangers heads dropped and Vale looked like they could go on a rampage but only mustered one more goal from several late chances.
Eoin Johnson refused to play Andy Brennan in and slotted home with a sweet left foot  finish.
3-6 at full time, giving this Vale team a big win in their season.
