Preparation for the 2016/2017 season is well under way with many of our teams back pre-season training. Pre-season offers players the chance to get match ready but of course there can be some tough training sessions to get through.
With that in mind, we have pulled together a top ten list of excuses from players for a missing a pre-season training session. We are sure most coaches will relate to these!
- Championship match – football

- Players returning from a holiday often need several weeks of rest before returning to training
- Olympics
- Occurs every four years and players often miss training due to jumping on a bandwagon for some sport they have never heard of
- Injury from last season
- A phantom injury still lingering from last season often needs additional resting
- A load of weddings
- A bad few weeks of local weddings can badly hamper training attendance
- A load of stag or hen nights

- Waiting on boots to be delivered
- Ordering boots from China can lead to delays in players having the appropriate kit to train
- Pitch not ready
- Players insisting on a minimum quality of grass to train on
